15 Lesser-Known Beach Clubs In Bali That Are Not Potato Head

Bali beach clubs

Sun, sand, sea, repeat. That’s the mantra beach lovers swear by and that’s exactly the type of holiday you’ll have when you visit these beach clubs in Bali. They’re perfect for lounging at during the day while enjoying ocean views and a drink. Come nightfall, some of these beach clubs have live DJs and even host parties.

But if you don’t want to go to where everyone else is heading to, i.e. Potato Head Beach Club, there’s a whole slew of alternative beach clubs in Bali worth checking out. We’re talking infinity pools, 180-degree views of the ocean, cocktails and sunsets to die for, so grab a Bintang and let’s dive right in:

1. Mari Beach Club – Monthly themed festivals

This classic Bali oceanfront bar and restaurant is a favourite among locals and visitors alike.

Located in between Seminyak and Canggu, Mari Beach Club is constructed entirely from bamboo, with a giant dome structure that resembles the famous Mount Agung. The sweeping views of Batu Belig beach, fresh seafood tower, and killer cocktails keep people coming back. But we’re really here for the monthly themed festivals.

2. Ulu Cliffhouse – Hosts A-list headliners like Carl Cox

Ulu Cliffhouse is arguably one of the most beautiful beach clubs in Bali. Considering the prime cliffside location and the surroundings, it’s easy to see why – endless ocean vistas, epic sunset views, and shimmering stretches of sand.

Show up early to snag a day bed and settle in for a Roasted Pineapple Margarita, a cheesy pizza, and some crispy calamari. Oh, and you’re likely to spot somebody famous, since headliners like Carl Cox, Black Coffee, and Peggy Gou frequent this venue often.

The deck at this day-drinking staple is jumping pretty much every night, and if you’re in Bali just to get lit, book yourself in one of the rooms upstairs.

3. Canna Bali – New beach club with private teepees

Nusa Dua is no longer your parents’ and grandparents’ getaway now that Canna Bali is open.

One quick look and you’ll have to agree that this brand new beach club is charming as heck. From the moment you walk into its boho chic white stone entrance to the minute you slide your way through the sand and onto a crispy sunbed, you’ll feel like you’re in Greece.

To amp up the ambience, opt for a private teepee so you and your date can whisper sweet nothings in the comfort of a secluded hut. Then, continue the date at the fancy schmancy all-glass Cliff restaurant before getting turnt at the club inside a man-made cave.

4. Mrs Sippy – Bali’s largest saltwater pool with giant floaties

This blue and white haunt is next door to Potato Head, has the largest saltwater pool, and most likely the only beach club in Bali with a diving board.

beach-clubs-baliImage credit: @mrssippybali

At Mrs.Sippy, the bartenders pour drinks like the world is ending, which explains the loose crowd by mid afternoon. Its happy hour specials like 2-for-1 spirits (IDR150,000), slushies (IDR160,000), and beers (from IDR75,000) are famous, so get in early or you may never get a daybed or even a seat at the bar.

The giant yellow duck floaties are free to use and frankly, very essential props for your IG pics. And hey, the diving board is for you to jump off while doing a backflip, if you want.

5. Old Man’s – Daily happy hour 5pm-6pm

The name of the bar is Old Man’s, but you won’t see any old men here. Instead, there’ll be a concentrated dose of tan and tone surfers, models, and spring breakers sipping on vodka redbull.

beach-clubs-baliImage credit: @oldmansbali

Besides its idyllic beachside location in Canggu, its killer 1-for-1 happy hour on all drinks from 5pm-6pm daily is the reason why the place is always popping. Swing by on Wednesday for beer pong or Thursday for salsa classes. It’s basically impossible to have a bad time over here.

Roosterfish Beach Club on Pandawa Beach is exactly what the doctor ordered: it’s neither loud nor wild, but more laidback.

beach-clubs-baliImage credit: @roosterfishbeachclub

It has a pool bar so you can sip cocktails in the water until you’re as pruny as you please. Should you decide to air out, sprawl on one of the floating bean bags, still holding on to a Mai Tai. Live DJs spin some of the most soulful tracks, especially on Sunday when the foam party kicks off.

As for the food, expect a mix of Indonesian cuisine like Nasi Goreng (IDR130,000) and Western dishes like pizzas (from IDR130,000) and burgers (IDR175,000). If you happen to stay at the Renaissance Uluwatu Resort & Spa, get on the free shuttle service and we’ll see you at the beach club.

Sitting on oceanfront property, Karma Beach offers 2 benefits. The first is, of course, its location on Karma Kandara beach, at the foot of the towering cliffs. The second is its dreamy Monday Movie By The Beach where you can catch a blockbuster while lounging on a bean bag under twinkly lights.

Getting here requires a short ride on the cable car down the cliffs, but the views of the stunning lagoon lined with shimmering white sand will be worth it.
